A new Facebook virus threatens PCs running Windows

A malicious application spread through the network of Facebook chat, could compromise PCs with Windows operating system, installing a backdoor component which facilitates unauthorized access and remote control of infected PC.

Dorkbot worm normally spreads via instant messaging applications, media and infected websites. If Facebook network, the virus spreads by sending messages that appear to come from people in your friends list. The message contains a link that seems to lead to an image. JPG, hosted at Facebook.com, but in reality users are directed to an infected website. The downloaded file is actually a program that when launched will try to download from the Internet other malware components and an executable file type. BAT.
Dorkbot worm is not the only malware spread through the network application Facebook. Zeus is a Trojan horse application that spreads by sending messages directly to members of the Facebook network, containing links to an application submitted as a screensaver. Once opened, the infected will lose an entire collection of Internet malware, including Zeus Trojan.

In response to questions raised, said that Facebook has more systems to monitor the spread of spam and fight to remedy both problems by technical means and the legal channels. Additionally, Facebook promised to help remove the virus from infected PCs Dorkbot worm offering an updated version of McAfee Scan tool-and-Repair.

Mircosoft Security detected a virus today while I was playing cityville.. "unsafe website"... I sent a screen shot to FB but have heard no reply..
